Can You Believe It?

Luke 24:12  Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.

Wow! If it blew Peters mind after all He had seen and having firsthand knowledge; then we should not be surprised when men doubt today. Thankfully that doubt can be overcome by faith. Of course we cannot manufacture faith but I serve a God who has made provision for our needs in the form of a gift.

Ephesians 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

To all of us that have become a partaker of that grace this season is a time for us to celebrate. Most will on resurrection Sunday have attended a service and basked in the glory of the empty tomb and resurrected savoir.

For me I also reflected on the cross, especially what occurred at His death.

Matthew 27:50-54   Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

You see upon His death (the payment having been made) His power over the grave was immediately demonstrated. Not just the power to lay down His life and take it back up but total power over the grave for us as well. He made certain there could be no misunderstanding. The power to resurrect from the grave was intended for man. This was certainly part of what blew Peters mind. He believed that Jesus was the Son of God and had witnessed many things. But nothing like what had just happened. Not just that the body of Jesus was not to be found. There was more to be wondered at, much more. How the veil was rent, how the earth did quake, and how many people who were dead and buried, were now alive! They had even walked into the city to make sure they were seen! Now that would give any man reason to wonder. More importantly it gives any man who has experienced the saving grace of God hope. The age old question of life after dead has been answered. If you can believe it. There is so little I can add as it has all been given to us so well in the Word. I can only point to the source of my hope that it may cause others to wonder as well and seek Him for the gift of faith to believe. My hope is for all who find Him to see as clearly as I have, that the grave has no power over us at all. So we are wasting time and effort any time we are considering the grave. Resurrection being a certainty we need to concentrate on life both this side of the grave and the other. The grave has no power either as a punishment or an escape, but my hope is not only eternal life but eternal life with Him who loved me so much that He gave his only begotten Son that I should not perish but have life everlasting. So as we reflect in awe at what He has done let us be reassured in our faith and comforted by the following from His Word.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-14  But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

Acts 1:1-9  The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.  For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.  And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

Isaiah 25:8  He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.

Isaiah 26:19  Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

THE MIGHTY HAND OF GOD

Dear Mom Adams,

Several weeks ago I made a prayer request while visiting with B. A. Way back in October, There was a need for a kidney donor by a young lady of 35 years. It was something that I felt God telling me just to offer and He would take it from there. Being well beyond the maximum age to donate, I didn't think the doctors would go for it, but God knows best. After many tests that came out to totally surprise me and many phone calls, I got word yesterday that I had been accepted by the eight doctors that had the vote. I am sooooo thankful for your prayers. I feel so very blessed and honored to be able to give the gift of life to another human being (who by the way is one of His children). He is the only reason that this could possibly happen. Again THANK YOU JESUS IS for lifting this up in prayer. God bless you all.

Your sister in Christ,

J. M.

                                  NEWS FROM CAMP PHILAGAPE’

REHAB WITH A HEART

We have swiftmud approval for our cabin sites and work continues in preparation at the sawmill. We also have our plans for the kitchen in our contractors hand and hope to have a permit before long. We are excited as we are working towards being able to finally bringing people in out of the weather to cook and eat. We have almost all the funding and will began the very instant we have a permit in hand. If anyone has the materials or the means to provide for them, we need a suspended ceiling in the kitchen area. Everything else is either provided for in the kitchen and dining facility.

Praise God for all He has done. Please remember that our newsletter is now bi-monthly. This is due to low funds so if provision is made we will print as we can. We will be getting our web site updated soon so keep checking for our new site. We will retain the old site in archives for those who have been with us for years.

We started March with twenty eight men. Eight graduated, nine left and six came in. We started with twelve women. Two graduated four left and seven came in. There are at time of printing seventeen men and thirteen women in the program.

 The building fund balance is $5,284.02 after expenses and with deposits of $0

We have started an online store that you can view when you click on the donate link on our web site. Stop by and see watch as we add new items. We now have some of Dads sermons on compact disc.

A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA

The Bridge Keeper

There was once a bridge which spanned a large river.   During most of the day the bridge sat with its length running up and down the river parallel with the banks, allowing ships to pass thru freely on both sides of the bridge.   But at certain times each day, a train would come along and the bridge would be turned sideways across the river, allowing the train to cross.

A switchman sat in a small shack on one side of the river where he operated the controls to turn the bridge and lock it into place for the trains to cross.   One evening the switchman was waiting for the last train of the day to come, when thru the dimming twilight he caught sight of the train lights.

He stepped to the controls and when the train was within a prescribed distance, he turned the bridge into position.   Although to his astonishment, he found the locking control was not working.   If the bridge was not locked in position it would wobble back and forth at the ends and cause the train to jump the track and go crashing into the river.   And this would be a passenger train with many people aboard.

He left the bridge turned across the river, and hurried across the bridge to the other side of the river where there was a control lever which he could operate manually to lock the bridge in place.   He would have to hold the lever back firmly as the train crossed.

He could hear the rumble of the train, and he took hold of the lever and leaned backward to apply his weight to it, locking the bridge. He kept applying the pressure to keep the mechanism locked.   Many lives depended on this man's strength.   Then, from the direction of his control shack across the bridge, he heard a sound that made his blood run cold. "Daddy, where are you?"   His four-year-old son was crossing the bridge to look for him.

His first impulse was to cry out to the child,   " Run! Run!"   But the train was too close; the tiny legs would never make it across the bridge in time.   In the same instant, he almost left the lever to run and snatch up his son and carry him to safety.   But he realized that he could not get back to the lever in time for the train to pass safely.   Either the people on the train or his little son would have to die.   It took a moment to make his decision.

The train sped safely and swiftly on its way.   No one on board was even aware of the tiny broken body thrown mercilessly into the river by the onrushing train.   Nor were they aware of the pitiful figure of the sobbing man, still clinging tightly to the locking lever long after the train had passed.   Neither did they see him walking home more slowly than he had ever walked before, to tell his wife how they had lost their son.

As we comprehend what this experience must have meant to this man and how it affected him, we begin to realize what our Father in Heaven must have had to endure when He sacrificed His Son (the most innocent man ever) - to bridge the gap between us and eternal life.   Can there be any wonder that He caused the earth to tremble and the skies to darken when His Son was crucified?   And how it must affect Him when we speed along thru life with little thought or appreciation for their sacrifice.

If I Were The Devil

The thief comes not but to steal,

kill, and destroy......John 10:10

by Paul Harvey

I would gain control of the most powerful nation in the world;

I would delude their minds into thinking what they had came from man's efforts instead of God's blessings;

I would promote an attitude of loving things and using people, instead of the other way around;

I would dupe entire states into relying on gambling for their state;

I would convince people that character is not an issue when it comes to leadership;

I would make it legal to take the life of unborn babies;

I would make it socially acceptable to take one's own life;

I would cheapen human life as much as possible, so that the lives of animals are valued more than human beings;

I would take God out of the schools, where even the mention of His name would be grounds for a lawsuit;

I would come up with drugs that sedate the mind and target the young, and I would get sports heroes to advertise them;

I would get control of the media, so that every night I could pollute the mind of every family member for my agenda;

I would attack the family, the backbone of any nation;

I would make divorce acceptable and easy, even fashionable; if the family crumbles, so does the nation;

I would compel people to express their most depraved fantasies on canvas and in movies, and I would call it art;

I would convince the world that people are born homosexuals, and that their lifestyle should be accepted and marveled;

I would convince the people that right and wrong are determined by a few who call themselves authorities and refer to their agenda as 'politically correct';

I would persuade people that church is irrelevant and out of date, and that the Bible is for the naive;

I would dull the minds of Christians, and make them believe that prayer is not important, and that faithfulness and obedience are optional;

I guess I would leave things pretty much the way they are !

GRADUATES – STAFF – SUPPORTERS –

PRAYER PAVERS

Those of us who have been through the program remember a large glass jar that we would pray over daily.  In it we put the names of our family members that needed help from The Lord.  Every morning, when the residents gather for prayer, the jar would be brought out and all those in it would receive prayer from the entire group.  The jar was very full.  No names were ever removed and the number of residents continues to grow.

Historically, the morning gathering for prayer has taken place on the back porch before breakfast.  After the new building is complete, the residents will be lining up for breakfast on the new back porch and long sidewalks and the Morning Prayer gathering will take place there.

NOW as a donation to the building fund we can purchase a paver for each loved one or a graduate, staff or supporter and have it professionally engraved.  Graduates may have their name and the year they graduated.  Staff and supporters may have their name and years of service.  Loved ones may have the name of those in need of salvation, healing and deliverance or in memory of a loved one gone home.

Let your name and the names of your loved ones be an enduring part of all that the ministry is destined to become by purchasing a paver.

Professionally engraved paver blocks need to be purchased before the sidewalks are constructed, so sign up for yours today!!!  Each paver ordered is for a $100.00 donation directly to the building fund in your name and can be made in 4 monthly payments of $25.00 each.  Pavers will be ordered when the balance is paid.
